Welcome

The Functional Neuroimaging Physics Lab at Carleton University is led by Avery Berman, PhD. We develop and apply MRI techniques and biophysical modelling to image brain activity and physiology with improved sensitivity and specificity.

Our research encompasses physics and biomedical engineering with applications in clinical and basic neuroscience. Our lab consists primarily of physicists with an interest in applying our knowledge to improve our understanding of the brain using non-invasive MRI. We have office and lab space at Carleton and the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. At the Royal, we have access to the research-dedicated hybrid 3-tesla PET-MRI scanner.
